How to get a copy of your title

"I've lost my vehicle's title. How do I get a duplicate title?"

Acquiring a duplicate title is a simple process at our office. Please head down to 811 S Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19147 with the following documents:

• Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License or Pennsylvania Photo ID

• Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of your vehicle

  • To fill out the duplicate title request form, we need your vehicle's VIN. This can be found on your registration card, insurance ID card, or on the vehicle itself.

"How long does it take to get a duplicate title?"

When applying through our office, it typically takes about 10-14 days in order for the PA transportation department to print out and mail your title.

"Can I request a digital version/photocopy?"

Unfortunately, no. If you're planning on selling your car or moving states, you need an original copy of the title. 

"I'm not a PA resident, can I still get a duplicate title?"

If your vehicle is still registered in PA but you've moved states, you can still request a duplicate title. If your vehicle is registered in another state, please contact that state's DMV. 

"I purchased a car but the seller never gave me a title. Can I request a duplicate?"

If the title is still in the seller's name, they have to be the one to submit a request for a duplicate title.
